Working Bees

For details of a special working bee for Conservation Week 2008 please see our latest edition of Pomona Post.

Working  bees are held regularly throughout the year. The main focus of working bees are on checking stoat traps and bait stations on Pomona and Rona Islands and the adjacent mainland. We currently have a total of 74 stoat traps and 12 bait stations on Pomona, 8 stoat traps and 5 bait stations on Rona and 48 stoat traps on the mainland opposite Pomona.

We have an email list of potential volunteers and if you would like to be added to this list please email us at  pomona.island@ihug.co.nz. You will receive advance notification of working bees and would be very welcome to join us.

Please note, however, that working party dates can change at short notice because of weather conditions. Numbers for each working bee may also be limited as we have to travel by boat to Pomona Island.

Please note:

We do not offer long term volunteer opportunities on Pomona Island
